The latest to hit the stands!
The Main Attraction Posted 12/16/03
Saturady November 21, the South Dayton Church of Christ again became the centerpiece of the activities. The Church is
always a popular building, mainly because of their free food and drinks in the fellowship hall. But this year, as it has for
the past few years, they offered more on Saturday night than just free food. There was a full schedule of performances
on this night. Kicking things off were the children of the church. Under the direction of Debbie Mickey, they took the stage
and lifted their voices to God. On that stage one young man, Cameron O'Conner, showcased his talented voice and impressed
many people that knew him well, who DIDN'T know he could sing. Following the children, the South Dayton Singers performed
again. Under the direction of Heather Reichle, the Singers displayed much talent as a group of twenty, tops, filled the auditorium with
the wonderful sounds of vocal music. This performance paved the way for the "main attraction", if you will.
After the South Dayton Singers came the acappella group, Paid In Full. The concert started off a little early and unplanned.
The four original members, Jamie, Jared, Shea (back from college for a week), and myself, walked into the auditorium, looked
around, then all walked onto the stage. Without even planning it, we all picked up a microphone, and had our own little, improv
concert. We just sang "I Feel Good" for old time's sake, but it was a lot of fun. After that happened, we got on with the
real concert. Shea would have sung with us, but he had no time to practice, and we didn't even know he was going to be up
here. The concert was going along without a hitch, and the occasional standing ovation, until we got to the last song. Now,
we've always had a little trouble with "I Can Only Imagine", but this time was just ridiculous. We tried for at least four
or five times to get it, but we couldn't. It ended up with Shea coming up on stage and helping us get our notes. And when
that happened, Lynn saw his way out. He got Shea to sing with us again, which was awesome. We finally did get the song to
happen, and that ended the concert. Paid in Full would like to thank Lynn Cain and my dad, Jim Mickey, for their help in performing.
We wouldn't have been able to do...well, the mojority of the songs we sang without them. Thank you very much.
